CytoVue SCC Milk Somatic Cell Counter
The CytoVue SCC is a compact benchtop analyzer that counts somatic cells in raw milk by fluorescence imaging. Used together with single-use counting chips and staining reagent, it delivers laboratory-grade SCC results in minutes — no dilution, no complicated operation.
- Clinical & sub-clinical mastitis diagnosis — detect udder infections early, even when milk looks normal, and manage dairy herd health effectively.
- Raw milk quality monitoring — verify somatic cell counts before collection and processing to safeguard milk quality and food safety.
Fluorescence Imaging Principle
An LED light source passes through a beam-shaping lens and excitation filter to illuminate the sample on the SCC microfluidic chip. Fluorescence signals from stained somatic cells pass through a dichroic mirror, imaging lens and filter set onto a high-sensitivity camera module. The embedded software automatically identifies and counts the cells chamber by chamber — microscopy-grade accuracy without manual work.

Simple 5-Step Workflow — Results in Minutes
- Warm the raw milk sample at 40 °C for 10 minutes.
- Invert and mix the sample thoroughly before pipetting.
- Pipette 100 μL of milk and mix well with the staining reagent.
- Load 8.5 μL into each channel of the counting chip.
- Insert the chip into the analyzer and start the test — the SCC result is displayed automatically.

Simple Software, Complete Data
The 7-inch touch screen keeps daily work effortless: start a test in two taps, register up to 4 samples per run, and review every result with its original and marked fluorescence image. All records stay on the device with built-in search, filters and data export.

Validated Performance
Results are traceable to the reference method — manual microscopy counting with trypan blue staining — following ISO 13366 (IDF 148) and Chinese standard NY/T 800-2004. The instrument was calibrated against Bentley and FOSS flow-cytometry analyzers with more than 500,000 reference samples:
- Correlation with Bentley: R² = 0.9911 (y = 0.9995x + 1.195)
- Correlation with FOSS: R² = 0.9951
- Deviation versus microscopy: < 10%
- Repeatability: CV ≤ 5% at ~500,000 cells/mL; CV ≤ 7% at ~200,000 cells/mL
